Parliament
The New Zealand Government is called a Democracy, because people can choose to vote if they wish to. New Zealand Citizens can actually vote for the leaders that they want to have in Parliament, and the party that gets to be in Parliament. There are 120 seats in Parliament, 120 Mp can be voted into Parliament. If a party gets 20% of votes, they get 20% of seats in Parliament. If no party has more than 50% of seats. You have to get over 61 seats to be able to be in government. Parties can join up with other parties to make it into Government. An Elections happen every three years. To vote you have to be over 18 Years Old and New Zealand Citizen. You have two votes, A party vote, Vote for which party you want to be in Parliament and a voting area vote, for someone you want to repres ent your area in Parliament.
